Check out our Micro Grain Solid Carbide Spiral Compression Bit, featuring 2 flutes and built to outlast standard solid carbide bits, a claim we've tested meticulously to back up. Available in sizes from 3.175mm to 12mm with a range of cutting lengths to match.
What is Micro-Grain Solid Carbide?
Micrograin solid carbide uses carbide grains down to 0.5 to 0.8 microns, versus 2 to 5 microns in standard carbide. Finer grain means a harder edge without the usual loss in toughness, so it resists chipping and heat softening under load. Result: the edge stays sharp and accurate far longer, especially when compared to standard solid carbide bits.
These compression bits are built for CNC and router applications requiring high feed rates and clean compression cuts. They work great across wood sheet materials, giving a consistent edge on both the top and bottom of the panel.
The bit can also be used as a pocketing tool, provided the pocket is deep enough to engage both the up cut and down cut portions, which ensures a clean finish. That engagement depth varies tool to tool depending on cutting length.

Clean chip evacuation, stays sharp ages.
Never used such durable compression cutters, only have good things to say.
I thought I'd share, I got 120 MDF sheets out of just one 6mm bit, image what i could get out of a 12mm bit!
Package was crushed when it arrived, tools were great though.
Personalised feed and speed advice was a game changer.
I cut lots of MDF, MFC and Birch-ply and have done for years, these bits are miles better than anything I ever ran before.
Clean finish, no breakout, quieter than anything I used before.
80 MFC sheets, one 4mm bit, well impressed.
Longest lasting compression bits I have ever used.
Best quality bits I have used in 10 odd years, and the feed and speed advice is brilliant, couldn't recommend more.
I have tried all the sizes of this compression cutter, and they dont snap. Very rigid design.
CNC team over the moon with the performance.
Use 3 different sizes from 6 to 10, all can be ran at 18mm each pass.
Great finish top and bottom, you get what you pay for.
Handles MDF, MFC, plywood easily.

Carbide ground to 0.5 to 0.8 micron grain, versus 2 to 5 microns in standard carbide. Finer grain holds a sharper edge for longer under load.
Whatever diameter tool you choose, you'll need a matching collet size.
