Sheets are expensive
If you’re currently using standard compression cutters, I’m sure you’re familiar with your edges looking a little something like the image attached. After just 15 decently cut sheets, it comes out of the blue and the next thing you know you're standing over the skip with a piece of wood with its face destroyed.
See the issue with standard compression cutters is that the flute geometry simply isn’t designed for long-term clean cutting. Pre-mature tool Blunting happens when a bit gets to warm, and the reason a bit gets to warm is because the chips inside the cut are constantly being rubbed against the material wall causing a build up in friction, which dramatically punishes the sharpness of the bit in question.
If you've learned one thing from the above, it's that a compression cutter's flute geometry doesn't give the chips it's cutting a chance to escape. Which will always lead to a heat build-up.
Chip-Relief Geometry
The fix for heat-build up within the design of a standard compression cutter is is to add chip-breaks, this allows
for the material to exit the cut easier.
Which is why we introduced: Chip Release Architecture Design™, as you can see in the image attached to this text we did exactly that, this bit leaves the exact same finish as a standard compression cutter, while lasting longer.
This bit simply stays cool, which then translates into a longer lasting cutting performance.
Details
Meet our Reinforced Compression Cutter with Chip Release Architecture Design™. Two flutes, engineered to outlast standard compression cutters. The flute geometry keeps the tool cool and stops chips re-rubbing into the wood, which is what causes burn, fur-up, and early wear on standard cutters. A reinforced shank means less flex, less snapping, longer tool life.
This compression cutter is built for CNC and router applications requiring high feed rates and clean compression cuts. It works great across wood sheet materials, giving a consistent edge on both the top and bottom of the panel.
The bit can also be used as a pocketing tool, provided the pocket is deep enough to engage both the up cut and down cut portions, which ensures a clean finish. That engagement depth is 6mm for this tool in particular.
